INDIANAPOLIS -- Erik Kangas scored 23 points to lead Oakland to a 70-60 win over IUPUI on Saturday night.

Kangas made 6 of 10 3-pointers and 7 of 11 shots overall for Oakland (14-10, 7-1 Mid Continent). Shawn Hopes scored 13 points and Johnathon Jones added 10 for the Golden Grizzlies.

Gary Patterson led IUPUI with 16 points and Austin Montgomery and David Barlow each added 13 for the Jaguars (10-12, 3-5).

Oakland shot 50 percent from the field and made 9 of 18 3-pointers. IUPUI shot just 31 percent, but stayed competitive by outrebounding the Golden Grizzlies 33-30 and committing only eight turnovers.

Oakland led 31-19 with 3:13 left in the first half, but IUPUI closed the half on an 8-3 run to make it a 34-27 game.

Oakland steadily built its lead in the second half. The Golden Grizzlies' largest lead was 15 points with 2:56 to go.
