BROOKINGS, S.D. — Brandon Cassise’s basket with 15 seconds remaining lifted Oakland University to a Summit League win over South Dakota State.
Cassise scored seven of the Golden Grizzlies’ last nine points.
It was the third straight heartbreaking loss for the Jackrabbits (5-9, 0-3), who dropped back-to-back overtime games last weekend in California. SDSU led late in all three games.
Against Oakland (7-7, 2-1), the Jackrabbits took a 72-71 lead on a 3-pointer by Clint Sargent with 28 seconds to play.
The Golden Grizzlies led 37-36 at halftime and maintained the lead until Garrett Callahan gave SDSU a 64-61 lead on his third 3-pointer with 4:24 left. It was the first of four lead changes down the stretch.
