Oakland 74, Centenary 61--The Detroit Free Press

Junior Derick Nelson scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed six rebounds, and junior Erik Kangas scored 17 points off the bench to lead the host Golden Grizzlies (9-7, 4-1 Summit). Oakland outrebounded Centenary (7-9, 1-3), 34-17 and made 28 of 32 from the line. Nick Stallings led the Gents with 18 points. Oakland senior Brandon Cassise has been suspended from the team indefinitely for violation of team policy.

MACOMB - Behind senior David Jackson's 23 points, Western Illinois handed South Dakota State a 75-52 defeat.

WIU (7-8, 2-2 Summit League) held a 28-19 lead at the break, but Jackson scored 15 of his 23 in the second half to help the Leathernecks pull away.

WIU coach Derek Thomas also credited a defensive effort that saw the Leathernecks limit the Jackrabbits to 27 percent shooting in the first half.

At Rochester, Mich., Derick Nelson scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed six rebounds, Erik Kangas scored 17 points off the bench, and Johnathon Jones tallied 12 points, matching a career-high with eight rebounds and had six assists, to lead the Golden Grizzlies (9-7, 4-1 Summit) over the Gents (7-9, 1-3 Summit).

The Golden Grizzlies made a season-high 28 free throws and are on a season-high three-game winning streak.

Keith Benson grabbed five rebounds in just nine minutes of action off the bench, while Will Hudson scored seven points and had six boards in 20 minutes for the Grizzlies.

Nick Stallings led Centenary with 18 points while Tyrone Hamilton added 16 and Chase Adams had 11.
