BASKETBALL: Senior guard Justin Allen scored 21 points and pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds Sunday night but his effort was not enough as fourth-seeded IUPUI sent fifth-seed Southern Utah to a season-ending 71-59 loss in the quarterfinal round of the Mid-Continent Conference tournament. Southern Utah went nearly nine minutes in the first half without a basket, then went six minutes near the end of the game without a bucket.

TULSA, OKLA. - Tanika Mays scored a game-high 19 to lead IUPUI to a 56-51 victory over Western Illinois in the quarterfinals of the Mid-Continent Conference tournament.

Trailing 23-22 at the half, the Jaguars took the lead for good with a 6-0 push midway through the second half and sealed the victory with clutch free-throw shooting down the stretch.

Gina Hugelier led WIU (10-19), with 18 points. Stephanie Lovingood had 12 points and five rebounds.
