MACOMB - Missouri Valley Conference favorite Drake took a 36-15 halftime lead and cruised to a 77-58 victory over Western Illinois in Western Hall.

The Bulldogs had five players in double figures, led by Jill Martin's 18.

WIU (1-6) was paced by Gina Huglier with 18 points, including a 10-of-11 effort from the line. Richwoods product Stephanie Lovingood added 14 points and a team-high six rebounds for the Westerwinds.

Western outscored Drake 43-42 in the second half.
