MACOMB - David Jackson scored 27 points for the Leathernecks, but Moses Ehambe scored 40 for Oral Roberts in a 76-71 victory in Summit League action at Western Hall.

Jackson tried, though. He converted a three-point play with 28 seconds left to bring Western Illinois (11-14, 6-8) to within one point at 72-71.

But the Golden Eagles (18-5, 13-0) sank a pair of free throws on the other end and forced Western to turn the basketball over to preserve the lead and collect the win

"I though we could win this game," said Western Illinois coach Derek Thomas. "Our guys had the right mindset coming into the game, but they just had too much for us. We couldn't get a rebound and blew a couple of coverages tonight on the rotation."

Oral Robets outrebounded Western, 44-39.

Jackson and Jerryck Owens -Murrey had seven rebounds apiece for the Leathernecks.

Marcus Lewis had nine points and 12 rebounds for the Golden Eagles. Kelvin Sango also pulled down 10 rebounds for the winners.

IUPUI 89, CENTENARY 61: At Indianapolis, the IUPUI Jaguars extended their perfect home record to 13-0 with the win over Centenary on Thursday evening. The Gents could not find scoring inside and were forced to shoot from the outside, attempting 25 3-pointers in the loss.

IUPUI (20-5, 12-2 Summit) took an early 5-0 lead and never looked back.

The Gents cut what was frequently a 10-point lead down to five on several occasions, but could not get any closer. The final time came on a Matt Cortez trifecta with 3:14 to play in the first quarter. However, IUPUI responded with a 7-1 run to close out the half to gain a 42-31 advantage at the break.

IUPUI opened the second half on a 5-0 run to earn a 17-point lead and cruised from there.

Centenary (9-16, 3-10 Summit) shot a respectable 42 percent from the field and connected on 10 3-pointers, which included four from Tyrone Hamilton.

CENTENARY: The Gents travel to face Western Illinois tonight at 7 in Macomb, Ill.

The Gents and the Leathernecks have been evenly matched over the past couple of seasons and if history dictates the outcome of this game, fans can be assured it will be a competitive one.

Centenary (9-16, 3-10 Summit) is 0-6 on the road in league play this season and has lost six straight games overall as it prepares to face Western Illinois (11-14, 6-8). The Gents are 1-3 all-time at Western Hall, but the biggest margin of defeat suffered there has been just 11 points for the Maroon and White.
