Indeed, there's little time to waste in a typical fast-paced game, which often features sharp shooting from the field, high-flying dunks, fearless drives to the basket and the fastest hands this side of the NBA.

The cost is $85 for an intense summer of competitive basketball. But high-level basketball skills are required.

"A couple of guys ... I've given them their money back," said Shockey.

But not Brandon Cassise, who will be a senior on Oakland University's basketball team. Cassise and several teammates from Oakland, including B-Jay Walker, Shane Lawal and Keith Benson, are also playing in the league.
