Area college basketball (men): Centenary--The Shreveport Times
CENTENARY: Centenary coach Rob Flaska has announced the signing of Te'Allen Price from Cincinnati. Price is the first signing for the Gents of the 2008-09 class.
The 6-foot-10, 270-pound Price adds size to an ever-growing Centenary roster. He plays his prep ball at Woodward High School and is a member of the Shining Star Sports-Callahan AAU team. His squad finished seventh in the country this summer at the AAU National Championships and boasted a 43-17 record.
"Te'Allen brings us a much-needed physical presence in the paint," said Flaska. "He is a big-time football prospect that will provide toughness and will impact our program with his ability to defend and rebound. He should compete for major playing time as a freshman."
Price also considered Ball State, Furman, IUPUI, Morehead State, Niagara, and Tennessee Tech among other schools, according to his AAU coach.

LOUISIANA-MONROE 59, CENTENARY 46--The Shreveport Times
At Monroe, for the second time in as many games, turnovers were the story for Centenary. The Ladies gave the ball away 34 times against Louisiana-Monroe and dropped to 0-2.
Two freshmen led Centenary in scoring -- Anne Farrell (12) and Ashley Jackson (9).
Cierra Bush had a team-high nine rebounds.
"Monroe has a good press, but I'm confident that only two of our 30 turnovers were because of their defense," said head coach Steve Curtis. "Tonight we didn't read the defense. We need to slow down, so we don't make the mistakes that cost us the game."
The Warhawks had a slight edge in rebounding, 44-43.
"I'm really confident our team can pull through this rough early going," Curtis said. "We have the team to do great things. However, I don't want to take anything away from ULM, who played great on both ends of the floor."
