FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Patrick Beverley scored 19 points to lead Arkansas to a 91-57 win over Oakland on Thursday night.
Arkansas (8-1) seized control early in the first half and dominated on both ends of the floor.
The Razorbacks shot 55 percent from the floor in the first half and hit six of nine 3-point attempts to take a 44-27 lead at intermission. Beverley was 5-of-6 from the floor with three 3-pointers and 13 first half points.
Arkansas used a 13-2 run midway through the first half, capped by Steven Hills’ dropstep, two-handed dunk with 9:06 left, for a 27-11 lead.
The final play of the opening period illustrated the Razorbacks’ resourcefulness, with Darian Townes hitting a 3-pointer at the buzzer from the top of the key. The play was intended to go to Beverley coming off a screen along the baseline, but with Beverley covered, the ball went out to Townes.
The Razorbacks were just as impressive on defense, forcing Oakland (6-6) into 27 turnovers.
Vincent Hunter and Hill finished with 11 points each for Arkansas. Gary Ervin added nine points and eight assists.
Derick Nelson led Oakland with 16, while Shawn Hopes added 12. Vova Severovas and Johnathon Jones scored 10 each.
